Alex Francis was raised in Hitchin in Hertfordshire but moved to the creative and exciting environment of Brighton to realize his musical aspirations, before relocating to North London.
In 2016, Alex won the support of Time Out magazine’s Rising Stars artist programme. He has wowed crowds with his charming, rasping vocals at festivals and events across the UK, including BST Hyde Park, Isle of Wight Festival and Standon Calling.
Among a string of live performances, Alex has shared the stage with Melanie C on tour across the UK and Europe. He provided guest vocals on Hold On, the third single from her album, Version of Me.
Following collaborative sessions in Nashville, Belfast and London, Alex’s debut EP, These Words, features five brand-new tracks showcasing his soulful, stripped back approach. The EP was mastered by legendary producer of The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, Chris Kimsey. Chris has also showcased Alex and his band at the Olympic Studios Live Sessions in London.
In late 2017 Alex released his second EP ‘A Stronger Love’. The new EP was recorded at RAK and Livingstone Studios and produced by Gus Pirelli (Disclosure, Sam Smith). Alex brought his live band into the studio and laid down four tracks with a fuller more soulful rocky sound than his debut EP These Words.
At the start of 2018 Alex and his band supported Stereophonics on their European Tour of: France, Germany, the low countries, Spain and Italy.
In June 2018 Alex released the single Free which was written in New York with Jeff Silverman of Truth & Soul – who was responsible for masterminding vintage sounds for Amy Winehouse, Aloe Blacc and Adele. Free was recorded at RAK Studios in London and produced by Chris Potter (The Verve, Passenger, The Rolling Stones).
Alex is currently touring Europe supporting Sting & Shaggy, and Alanis Morissette.
